The Far Northern Regional Center, based in Redding, serves nine counties across California's northern interior — Butte, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, and Trinity. It is a vast, sparsely populated territory, and its vendors operate at distances the rest of the system rarely sees. If your organization receives $500,000 or more in Far Northern funding across the State fiscal year, WIC §4652.5 requires an independent CPA review or audit.

Far Northern country runs from Chico and Redding — where most of the center's day programs and residential providers are concentrated — to mountain counties where a single agency may be the only vendored provider for miles. The thresholds do not scale down for rural areas: $500,000 in aggregate regional center funding triggers a review and $2,000,000 an audit, exactly as in San Francisco or Los Angeles. Your deadline

Your independent report is due within nine months of your fiscal year-end, and the report plus any management letter must reach Far Northern Regional Center within 30 days of when your CPA issues it.
