The Alta California Regional Center, based in Sacramento, has the widest county footprint of any regional center in the state — ten counties, from urban Sacramento through the Sierra foothills to Alpine County. Vendors receiving $500,000 or more in Alta funding across the State fiscal year must obtain an independent CPA review or audit under WIC §4652.5 and file it with the center on the statutory timeline.

Alta's vendor base radiates outward from Sacramento. The metro core holds a full mix of residential facilities, day programs, supported and independent living agencies, and behavioral providers; the foothill and mountain counties — Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Sierra, Alpine — are served by smaller, more dispersed organizations for whom staff travel is a fact of life. Two things distinguish Alta engagements. First, multi-county operations are the norm rather than the exception, so cost allocations across sites and counties need to be set up once, correctly, rather than improvised at year-end. Second, Sacramento's status as the state capital means many Alta vendors also hold state contracts or grants outside the regional center system — revenue that must be separated out, because only regional center funding counts toward the §4652.5 thresholds.
Your deadline
Your independent report is due within nine months of your fiscal year-end, and the report plus any management letter must reach Alta California Regional Center within 30 days of when your CPA issues it.
